== Nintendo == The famous Nintendo NES console is equipped with a powerful [Ricoh 2a03 / 2a07 chip https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricoh_2A03], inspired by the MOS 6502 from the C64 (the 6502 is a the CPU, nothing to do with the [[SID|musiques_c64.en]]), which can also play music on 5 voices (2 pulse, 1 triangle, 1 noise and 1 PCM which can replay samples). For replaying music (nsf files) on a real NES, it's possible to use a PowerPak cardridge. Everdrive may do it too, but some people say it's not possible to replay nsf. The GameBoy has a 8-bit Sharp LR35902 core at 4.19 MHz, which can output sound: 2 pulse wave generators, 1 PCM 4-bit wave sample (64 4-bit samples played in 1×64 bank or 2×32 bank) channel, 1 noise generator, and one audio input from the cartridge. The unit only has one speaker, but headphones provide stereo sound.
